Built with G1 duralumin for exceptional durability, the Monocoque Body design accommodates a larger, thicker gear—10% larger and 6% thicker than the previous model. The unique shape, appearing as though it was cut from a sphere, maintains low inertia and has an increased rigidity of 7%. As a result, each turn of the handle translates into a smoother, more powerful retrieve, even under extreme pressure.
Tough Line Roller System: Enhanced Line Management
The redesigned Tough Line Roller System has been enlarged to endure repeated heavy loads, and the updated design better integrates the screw with the bail arm. Joints at high-stress points have been removed, enhancing rigidity and durability around the line roller. Furthermore, the new line roller, optimised for Pe braided lines, reduces sliding resistance by approximately 3%.
Crank Power Bail: Consistent Control Ensured
The new crank-shaped design directs line smoothly to the line roller without fail. The redesigned shape and spring mechanism enhances opening and closing angles, preventing unintentional bail movement. This improvement significantly enhances line feeding to the roller, especially during jigging and while the line is tensioned.

DRD Drag System: Unmatched Durability for Large Fish
While drags that use carbon washers are highly durable, DRD elevates this with a new drag mechanism designed to target larger fish. Equipped with eight metal rollers on a single metal plate, the loss of drag force caused by frictional heat is controlled by DRD. Consequently, smooth operation under pressure is ensured, and durability is increased by 5x. The incredibly durable DRD Drag System is used for the 18000 size and above.
ATD Tough Drag System: Exceptional Strength and Smoothness
The ATD Tough Drag delivers exceptional drag strength and smoothness. The large carbon drag stack provides anglers with the ultimate in smooth performance and reliability. Up to 14000 size, Daiwa’s ATD Carbon washers are used for reliable and smooth drag control.
Robust Body Construction: Monocoque Body
Rigid One-Piece Design
With support from a new full metal Monocoque (MQ) body concept, 25 Saltiga has gained extra strength and retrieve power compared to previous models. A new Monocoque (MQ) body design further enlarges internal body space to allow a larger drive gear to be installed. MQ construction also allows the engine plate to replace the need for screws to stabilise the drive gear. Ultimately, the MQ concept improves support of the internal parts and adds durability and resistance to intrusion.
Enhanced Casting Performance: LC-ABS-SW
Precise Line Flow for Increased Distance
Daiwa’s “LC-ABS-SW” technology enhances power and rigidity. The spool’s upper section is optimised with a two-step taper toward the spool ring, thereby minimising friction for smoother line release. Its narrow width prevents tangling, even during the final stages of casting with less line remaining. This design ensures smooth casting with thick lines and improves casting distance by approximately 2%, thus providing anglers with an improved casting experience.
Preserving Performance: Magsealed Technology
Performance Protected from the Elements
Magsealed is a technology that implements a special liquid material, Magoil, originally developed for aerospace engineering. Magoil is used to create a water and dust-resistant barrier in lieu of traditional rubber seals. This innovative water resistance method maintains rotational performance. The ultimate focus of Magsealed was to protect the gearing inside the reel body and the bearings, two key components for the preservation of overall performance.
Magsealed Bearing: Sealed for Longevity
Magsealed bearings have been designed to last longer than traditionally sealed ball bearings. The balls are encapsulated in a completely waterproof housing. The inner and outer rings are magnetised and joined by waterproof and stable Magsealed oil. As a result, the initial performance of the reel will be indefinitely preserved. The longevity is beyond comparison to a waterproof industrial bearing. 25 Saltiga is equipped with Magsealed bearings on both sides of the drive gear.
