The Korda Kamakura Krank Hook delivers the ultimate in ready-to-use sharpness, achieving a surgical point quality comparable to a hand-sharpened hook without any manual effort. This unique and aggressive pattern is designed for maximum security and hooking efficiency.
The Krank boasts a distinct shape: a very wide gape, a short, curved shank, and a slightly in-turned eye (accentuated by the shank’s sweep). The key to its performance is the slightly beaked, offset point. This offset design helps the hook to ‘Krank’ (turn) aggressively once it makes initial contact, driving the point home securely. These hooks are exceptionally strong and feature a micro barb which won’t hinder penetration but ensures the hook stays locked in place once set.
The Krank is highly versatile, performing incredibly well with a simple knotless knot and proving deadly on complex setups, including the Spinner Rig favoured by Tom Dove. A barbless version is also available. To maintain their sharpness, points are protected by a blob of wax (to be removed before use) and ten individual hooks are supplied in a secure, dedicated box.
